   Ooty
Ooty or Udagamandalam (the Tamil version of the original name) also referred as "Queen of Hill Stations" by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

Ooty located in the distance of 65km from Mudumalai is one of the famous hill stations in India . It is spread over an area of 36 sq km with an impressive hill slopes. Ooty still woos people from all over India as well as foreign countries right through summer and in the winter months. An added attraction for the tourists to Udagamandalam is the mountain train journey on a ratchet and pinion track which starts from Kallar, near Mettupalayam. On its way we can explore many hair-raising curves and fearful tunnels and chugs along beside deep narrow valleys with full of green plants and huge trees, sparkling watercourse and tea gardens.

   Bandipur
Bandipur Sanctuary is the continuation of Mudumalai Sanctuary which is spread over 90 sqkm area.

Bandipur is a national forest of Karnataka . It is located at around 50km from Mudumalai. Here lies one of India 's best-known wildlife reserves - Bandipur National Park . The park supports a remarkable variety of flora and fauna, making it a veritable paradise for wildlife.

   Pykara Lake
A pleasant days outing while in Ooty is to rent a taxi and go down the Pykara road. This route passes the Golf course, eucalyptus forests and then the Kamaraj Sagar lake and dam. Do not waste time at the touristy "Pine Forest" which is full of litter and a very steep downhill climb, instead go ahead about 500m, cut through the mixed woods devoid of tourists and garbage, and reach the lake shore. It is very pretty and scenic without anyone else other than a multitude of birds and the odd monkey.

Further down the same road are patches of dense shola [montane rain forest]. It is well worth entering and exploring these jungles which are dense, moist and dripping with mosses, lichens, ferns and orchids. Look out for the blood red nilgiri rhododendrons in bloom from Dec to Feb.

   Kalhatty
"The Kalhatty falls (also known as Kalahasti Falls) has earned its reputation as one of the great Ooty Tourist Attractions. It is located on the Kalhatty slopes at about 13 km from Ooty on the Ooty-Mysore Kalhatty ghat road. The journey from Ooty to Kalhatty Waterfalls is a mesmerizing one with breath taking view on both sides of the road to Kalhatty. The water at Kalhatty Waterfall descends from a height of 122m. The nearby slopes are covered with thick forests that boasts of rich flora and animals like bisons, panthers, sambhar, wild buffaloes etc.

   Coonoor
Ooty is popularly known as “Queen of the Hill Stations” then Coonoor should be considered as “Princess of the Hill Stations”. As happens most often, princesses are more adorable, cute, and lovable compared to queens. In the same breath, Coonoor is more adorable, cute, and lovable than Ooty.

If Ooty gives you glimpse of what ultimate hill stations can be as mountain town with winding streets, trains of eucalyptus trees, green lush valleys and meadows, chilly atmosphere, serene lakes and gardens, fresh mountain air, misty mountain slopes, terraced town then Coonoor is same as Ooty with paradise of fog-wrapped tea plantations.

   Doddabetta
Just like any other hill station there are a lot of scenic view points in Ooty and each one of them have been converted into a good tourist attraction. You will need a atleast 2 days to visit the place inside Ooty. If you can venture out slightly, we would suggest you to visit Conoor, Wellington and Kotagiri.

   Gopalswamy    Betta
Gopalaswamy Betta, (also called Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta) is situated at about 90 kilometers far from Mysore. One can learn what it is to 'walk in the clouds' in this place. Visibility is hardly 2 meters most of the time and you're sure to stray out of the way you intended to walk. If your friend walks a little too faster than you by ten steps, chances are that you wouldn't be able to see him. Thick clouds seeparates you from him. The drive up the hill is something you should watch out for. The road is steep. Steeper than the steepest steep you've ever climbed. Yeah. It takes quite some effort to get to the top. Make sure your vehicles has good brakes.
